ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THIS FORUM: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Ning has gone commercial. I have the choice of three plans,
which are described at this site: http://about.ning.com/plans/

The MINI is too small for us, and the PLUS is probably one we
would rapidly outgrow. We need the PRO to keep us going.

Unfortunately, I can't afford it. If you want to contribute to
keeping us going, visit 911scholars.org in order to DONATE.

At $500 a year, we can do what we have been doing and more.
With 101 members, we can do it with very modest contributions.

Suppose everyone contributes $5 per year. That is $505 and
keeps us operating but with a margin to spare. Think about it.

But I only have until 30 August (the end of this month) to tell
ning what we are doing. I'll assess the situation then. Thanks.

    Hello Jim-

After a quick glance at your network I would say that Ning Mini would
suffice, save for the videos. With Ning Plus you would still have access to
the videos you currently have on the network (not on Mini) and with Ning Pro
you would maintain the ability to upload new videos.

All three plans do still offer the option to embed videos from hosting sites
    such as YouTube.

All,I have the above site and limited funds.I could carry the mini,
but would need help to do more. Is my current usage in the mini
range? I would appreciate knowing your recommendation. Thanks.

My son-in-law suggests that, if we provide links to
videos rather than embed them on the site itself,
we might be able to function with the MINI plan.

I consider $500 per year to be rather extravagant
and would prefer to go with a less expensive plan.
Remember, this would be a recurrent annual fee!

If any of you can tell how many of our videos are
actually uploaded to this site and how many are
simply linked, that might help to sort this one out.

Thanks to Dean and to Shallel for their comments.
Perhaps Shallel will be able to figure this out. Let
me know what I can do from this end. Many thanks!

Going by Shallel's fact finding, I agree we don't need the Pro. And if we use links instead of embedding, it sounds like the MINI still works. I have no problem with using links. If that is the issue, then let's stay with MINI for now.
