Capitol Rotunda to Host Nine-Eleven Anniversary Event

 

“Ten Years Later and the Questions Remain” is the theme of an event scheduled for the rotunda of the state capitol on Sunday, September 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.

 

The event will be held on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. It is sponsored by Minnesota 9/11 Truth, a local citizen’s organization that has questioned the official government story about 9/11 and is seeking a new impartial investigation into what happened that day.

 

Featured speakers will be Jim Fetzer, McKnight Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota Duluth and founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth; Kevin Barrett, Wisconsin author, radio show host and co-founder of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth; and Mike Palecek of Duluth, a former Catholic seminarian at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and award-winning Minnesota journalist, prolific author, and co-host of the internet radio show “The New American Dream.” Local speakers include Muslim activist Farheen Hakeem and 9/11 first responder Michael Cavlan. The event will also include live musical and spoken word performances, along with 9/11 Truth videos and exhibits.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

 

Jim Fetzer, a former Marine Corps officer, is McKnight Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, he edited the first book from Scholars, THE 9/11 CONSPIRACY (2007), organized its first national conference, "The Science and Politics of 9/11", and produced its first DVD.  He maintains the Scholars home page at http://911scholars.org and moderates its forum at https://911scholars.ning.com/.


Jim earned his Ph.D. in the history and the philosophy of science in 1970. A prolific author, he has published 29 books and more than 150 articles and reviews as well as dozens of articles and columns in the popular press since retirement after 35 years of teaching logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning.  He hosts a radio program, "The Real Deal", on revereradio.net. Now a columnist for Veterans Today, he focuses on the complex and controversial issues that affect the integrity of the 9/11 Truth movement.  Among his most recent are "Inside Job: Seven Questions about 9/11", "Inside Job:  More Proof of 9/11 Duplicity", and "Is '9/11 Truth' based upon a false theory?"  He has spoken on 9/11 in Athens, Buenos Aires (twice), and London.

Kevin Barrett, a Ph.D. Arabist and Islamic Studies expert, is one of America's best-known critics of the War on Terror. Dr. Barrett has appeared many times on Fox, CNN, PBS and other broadcast outlets, and has inspired feature stories and op-eds in the New York Times, the Christian Science Monitor, the Chicago Tribune, and other leading publications. Kevin, a convert to Islam, is a co-founder of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth -http://www.mujca.com/ and of Muslims for 9/11 Truth http://www.m911t.blogspot.com 

He is a co-editor of the book 9/11 AND AMERICAN EMPIRE (Volume II) and author of the books TRUTH JIHAD: MY EPIC STRUGGLE AGAINST THE 9/11 BIG LIE (2007) and QUESTIONING THE WAR ON TERROR: A PRIMER FOR OBAMA VOTERS (2009). Kevin has offered courses at colleges in San Francisco, Paris, and Wisconsin.
He currently hosts two radio shows, one on http://www.americanfreedomradio.com/ and one onhttp://noliesradio.org/.  As he writes : "...I'm the only radio host in the nation with a talk show on both a 'right' and a 'left' network."

Mike Palecek and his wife, Ruth, live near Duluth. Mike is a writer. He has written twelve novels and been involved in two non-fiction projects, including THE COST OF FREEDOM, which chronicles some of the many people who have fought so hard and so long to resist the American empire since the attacks of 9/11. He is also a co-host of the internet radio show, "The New American Dream". Mike is a former Catholic seminarian at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul. The small newspaper Mike and Ruth ran in southeast Minnesota won the Minnesota Newspaper Association Newspaper of the Year Award in 1993.

Mike also ran for Congress in Iowa in 2000 and received 65,500 votes in a conservative district on an anti-military, anti-prison, pro-immigration platform.He has served five sentences in county jail and federal prison for protest against the United States military at Offutt Air Force Base and also one Congressional sit-in to resist U.S. support for the oppression of the poor in El Salvador in the 1980s. Mike's novel, GUESTS OF THE NATION, is focused on the attacks of 9/11.

 

Farheen Hakeem (born December 6, 1975 in Chicago) is an American political activist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She joined the Green Party in 2002. Her first run for office was in 2005 for Mayor of Minneapolis, in which she came in third among 12 candidates. In 2006, she ran for Hennepin County Commissioner District 4, earning over 17,000 votes on the election day (33% of votes cast in that race). In 2008, she ran for State Representative in District 61B of Minnesota, earning 30% of all votes cast. In August of 2009, she was elected as a co-chair of the National Green Party, the first Muslim to serve in the executive of any major or third party in the United States. She was born and raised in Chicago's North Side to immigrant parents. Her father immigrated to the United States in 1962, and her mother immigrated in 1972. Both parents were born and raised in Hyderabad, India.

 

Michael Cavlan was born in San Jose, California, but spent most of his childhood and adolescence in Northern Ireland with his Roman Catholic family. Cavlan lived near Belfast, Northern Ireland from 1969 till 1984, becoming involved in the Irish Trade Union Movement as a member of ITGWU (the Irish Transport and General Workers Union) and IVG&ATA (the Irish Vintners, Grocers & Allied Trades Association). He is divorced with two sons,[1] and is a nephew of Ballymoney Sinn Féin councillor, Anita Cavlan. He is a registered nurse at Saint Paul's Regions Hospital and a member of the Minnesota Nurses Association 3rd District union and volunteer for the National Disaster Medical System. He specializes in burns, trauma and intensive care.[1] In the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he volunteered to assist in caring for wounded survivors.
